This is also based on the values of the "Welcome to Football" alliance, which has been building bridges between people of different backgrounds for many years under the leadership of 1. FC Union Berlin's foundation, helping refugees find their footing in their new environment in Berlin.

On Sunday, 18.10.2026, "Welcome to Football" will host an intercultural football tournament at the Trainingszentrum Oberspree (TZO). Spectators are invited to cheer on the teams and experience a day full of sports, fair play, and community.

From 10:00, twelve teams with players aged sixteen and above will compete for goals and sporting success. However, the focus is far more than just what happens on the pitch. The tournament will bring together young people both with and without a refugee background and create a room for exchange, encounters, and shared experiences.

Food and drinks will be available for a donation with the proceeds benefitting the UNION VEREINT.Schulter an Schulter foundation, and supporting its diverse social projects.
